Default What is the scariest horror movie you have ever seen?

Why was it so scary? What aspects of the movie shocked and frightened you most?

I'm not a big fan of scary movies and at the time I started watching them I was old enough to see how fake it is and to not be touched by it. So the most scarry thing I saw was as a child and must have been skeletor in He-man (I know im old!). He gave me some good nightmares.

dont be afraid of the dark 1973 version--saw it as a kid (yes I am old too) when it was FIRST on tv....

cant recall the name of the other--but it was also a tv movie, part of a set they would show (3 movies that were not related)...this one involves a statue (gory troll like) with a band around its waist...the lady (not sure) buys it (for a friends gift?) and puts in on her table and goes and does something...while she is out of the room the band falls off the statue and it ....ultimately grabs a kitchen knife and kills her....
It was a short film, but since I was a kid when it aired....

horror books: Ghost Story by Peter Straub
read it when it first came out as well...had problems with bugs for a bit after that---- (not to mention my sister is allergic to wasp stings!)

"Something Wicked This Way Comes", a very psychologically scary movie.

Do not watch,
**WARNING**
If you do not have the stomach, willing to watch a movie that is basically the title describing the whole movie or curious enough to want to watch it then do not scroll down.

Human centipede and the sequel

I hope you did

Case 39 had some fairly scary moments...same with the Paranormal Activity movies.

If you want to watch a twisted film then I'd suggest 'A Serbian Film'

Not scary, but some of the scenes are beyond twisted. It's a good watch, but you need a strong stomach for the few scenes I talk of.

It's banned in most countries, though a watered down version is available to buy. The original can be found via torrent.

Human centipede was weird, but overall a bit meh. Didn't bother with number 2.
